How strikethrough text works
This tool adds a combining overlay character after each letter — a mark that draws through (or under) the character it follows. Because it's built from standard combining marks, the crossed-out effect travels as plain text into places that don't otherwise offer a strikethrough button.

Where crossed-out text is used
Strikethrough is handy for jokes and edits ('$100 $50'), to-do lists, Instagram and Discord posts, and anywhere you want the look of a correction. On some platforms (like Discord and WhatsApp) native strikethrough exists too, but this works even where it doesn't.
